Global Cloud Services Pioneer Broadcast Operations Center

One of the world’s most influential cloud and technology providers recently established a Global Marketing Broadcast Operations Center in Seattle—a central hub that now produces and distributes its flagship client‑facing events, from cutting‑edge innovation showcases to its annual global conference series. The facility marks a shift toward broadcast‑grade consistency, scale, and operational control.

To bring this vision to life, the company partnered with ZTransform to design and integrate the broadcast‑grade infrastructure required to support always‑on production, global distribution, and the technical precision their flagship events demand.

The Goal

Increase Capacity While Reducing Cost

This global technology giant had been producing several client-facing live events throughout each calendar year intended to drive adoption of its products and services, while underscoring the company’s innovation throughout the various industries it serves. These events were varied in focus, format, scope, scale, and attendance, with both in-person and online participation. The online participation is provided via live streaming broadcasts managed by the company’s own “Livestream” team. But the production of both the in-venue presentations and the Livestream broadcast were being handled by on-premise production units at each of the event venues. This operational model was an expensive and logistically challenging approach to event production.

The goal for the Broadcast Operations Center was for it to become the centralized REMI Production Hub for all client-facing events, and ancillary events not yet on the drawing board.
Leveraging our strong relationships with manufacturers was key to procuring the equipment in the time frame needed.

The Challenge

Forging a New Path

With such an ambitious goal, the client wanted to make sure they painted the target for all of what this operation would need to perform from the outset, while leaving the hooks and handles in place for reasonably-foreseeable growth. They also needed to set expectations for the payoff of the initial investment as this was as much a cost-optimization plan as it was an improved experience goal.

Also requiring considerable coordination was identifying where specifically this operations would reside. Wherein the organization was certain it would operate from their global headquarters in Seattle, WA, which of their five buildings was still up for debate based on several factors, from environmental to renovation cost, to technical infrastructure.

Ultimately it was determined it should reside in an area adjacent to its AVOC unit where core tech and high availability infrastructure already existed.

The Solution

From Concept to Construction

ZTransform began our engagement with a Technical Program Development effort to identify the business, functional, and technical requirements of the initial REMI operation. This included space planning, technology specifications, conceptual design, a complete use case catalog, and both capital deployment and sustained operations budgeting.

Once the Broadcast Operations Center (BOC) was approved for funding, ZTransform performed the detailed, build-to engineering, product procurement, systems fabrication, installation, configuration, testing, and launch support for the full operation.

Initially, the BOC included REMI production control room capable of multiple events (scale and feature-dependent) and a 5 position Master Control responsible for the encoding, distribution, and quality assurance of all livestream events. An adjacent broadcast data center was built to house the mainframe systems.

All signal to and from the venues utilized the client’s Ground>Cloud>Ground encoding platform, requiring a portable streaming rack at the venue. All camera switching, graphics, and contribution elements were produced from the Seattle BOC and delivered via common streaming platforms. So viewers didn’t even recognize, other than the quality of the productions, that anything had changed.

The Result

Reaching a Massive Audience

After launch, the BOC began handling the REMI production and distribution for their occasional Regional Summit events and, as the system was exercised more, they took on higher-capacity events including re:MARS, re:Inforce, and their premier event re:Invent, drawing over 70k in-person attendees and 400k online viewers.

The BOC was now an available resource, ready to go active with very little advance notice, giving the marketing team the green light to develop newer, bigger, and even better user experiences.

In 2025, the BOC continued to enhance its offering, adding what they termed Live Sign Language pods to improve accessibility for stream viewers who previously has limited options. These pods included green screen backdrops, dedicated 4k PTZ cameras, and architectural set lighting to allow an office style environment double as a resource for production value increase.
We’re proud to have been invited in on this project for such a globally recognized brand – and more importantly to deliver on time despite all the challenges we were up against.
